Our Story: From a Passion for Authenticity

Natura Paper was born in 2006 from the desire to preserve and document local history and culture through the craft of handmade paper and old printing.

We are the largest center of this kind in Romania, a place where tradition meets contemporary art.

about

The Natura Paper Workshop is the largest craft center in Romania dedicated to handmade papermaking, letterpress/manual printing, and the conservation of the typographic craft. The workshop was established in 2006, in the heart of Transylvania, Cluj, out of a passion for authenticity and a desire to preserve and document the history and culture of a region. An international destination, the Natura Paper Workshop is a working studio, a gallery, a gathering place for the artistic community, and a supplier of one of the finest handmade papers in Romania.

Since its opening, the Natura Paper Workshop has been on a continuous rise in the community of noble craft collectors and aspirants dedicated to the art of papermaking. The workspace was recently relocated to a renowned building in Cluj's architecture from the first half of the 19th century, the Jósika Palace, where the ancient art of papermaking and manual printing seems to have remained encapsulated in an industrial atmosphere.

By unconditionally supporting the historical processes of papermaking and printing, alongside creating handmade works, the Natura Paper Workshop educates, guides, and inspires artists, students, and emerging or established members of the community to create.

Group Programs

We offer specially customized programs for papermaking and manual printing, in the form of lectures, demonstrations, or practical sessions, for groups of up to 20 people. Meetings organized this way are designed to highlight historical and cultural aspects related to papermaking, technical printing procedures, or artistic techniques.

Such a program, designed especially for student groups, involves a one-hour discussion and explanations of the artifacts in the workshop, followed by a practical papermaking session. Subsequently, the paper is dried and sent back to the participating group.

Programs, lectures, and workshops can also be held in other locations in the country. Please contact us for more information.
